E.A.T. Food for Life Farm

Who we are…

E.A.T. Food for Life Farm is home for me (Dan), my faithful and supportive wife, Nancy, and our six children Maria (now married), Ben, Rita, Joseph, David and Rose. For me, coming back to the farm in 1998 was probably how the Israelites felt as they were freed from the bondage of slavery in Egypt. After completing two degrees and working 12 years in corporate America, I had finally been purified to the point of discovering that God was calling me out of a corporate, urban lifestyle in Dayton to a simple, rural way of life. We returned to the farm to fulfill our most important vocation- home schooling our children in order to teach them the ways of God. Our certified organic family farm is 140 acres of crops, woods, pasture, and a pond located in northern Darke County. This farm, once called Kremer Farms, was owned and operated by my Grandfather, Bernard Kremer, then by my father, Carl Kremer. The old two-story brick farmhouse we live in now was built in 1868 and has a foundation of stones that were gathered by our ancestors from the farmland. 

What we do…

The Mission: E.A.T. Food for Life Farm is a 140-acre, chemical free, non-GMO, family farm located in northern Darke county near North Star, Ohio. Our goal is to honor God in all that we do. Our family mission is to grow and distribute nutrient-dense, traditional, safe foods that nourish, protect, and support life for improved health and energy. We also offer monthly health seminars to help people understand the causes of their health imbalances and/or lack of energy based on less than ideal food choices. Our products and services are designed to help people discover and experience the connection between quality of food and quality of life. 

Why we do it…

As a hemophiliac, some of the most vivid memories I hold of the farm is my Dad carrying me to the car in the middle of a cold winter night to visit Dr. Stevens for a blood transfusion. It would be a 45 minute ride of throbbing pain caused by an internal joint bleed that needed immediate relief. These frequent experiences were the foundation of my childhood that helped me understand the value of modern medicine and sacrificial love. These memories were balanced by the summer days spent raking acres and acres of hay, enjoying the warm sun, and smelling the fragrances of rich alfalfa on our dairy farm. However, because of the hemophilia, I knew that my physical constraints would not allow me to be like Dad, and therefore my vocation could not possibly have been farming.

Off to college I went (where I met my wife Nancy). I started with the plans of securing some sort of high paying office job in the city. I received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Univ. of Dayton and a Master’s degree in business from Xavier Univ. Soon followed 12 years of corporate work at GE Aircraft Engines and Reynolds & Reynolds, but all the while I was pretending to be someone of whom I was not. God started my journey back to the farm in 1990 when I learned that the blood products that I was using were not as pure as the medical authorities’ claims. In fact, each week when I received a blood transfusion of life-giving blood, I was also assaulting my immune system. The medical authorities recommended treating the symptoms of this problem with more drugs which I took for 1 year during which time I got worse rather than better. At the same time the medical authorities strongly suggested not starting a family because it was irresponsible. This experience ignited my passion to want to discover the meaning of my life.

In 1991, Nancy and I learned that the Blessed Virgin Mary was appearing to people in Conyers, GA so we made a trip to seek out the truth for ourselves. In the process, we fell in love with her, Mother Mary who then helped us fall in love with her son and to give our lives, unconditionally, to Jesus. One of the fruits of giving our lives to Jesus thru Mary in 1995 was being introduced to a nutritionist in Michigan (Dr. Saints) who instructed me in the principles and benefits of eating raw foods for healing and health. She also helped me understand that only food had the capacity to rebuild cells and tissue in the body and drugs while pharmaceutical drugs addressed symptoms of disease leaving a toxic residue at the cellular level. A year after discovering this truth, I was introduced to wild, whole organic food supplements. After 6 weeks of eating Super Blue Green Algae and related super food products, I started to experience a radical transformation in my health. My immune system was being restored and I had a whole new level of energy that I had never experienced before in my life. This was the spark that started the fire of understanding deep truths about food and farming.

I then started to research and read what the church had to say about this issue through National Catholic Rural Life. One key fact continually towers above all the other facts and figures. Over 20,000 cancer cases each year are directly linked to agricultural chemicals suggesting that our modern chemical farming practices are less than safe.* After much prayer and discernment, Nancy and I decided to move back to my Grandfathers farm, restore the old brick farmhouse that was originally built in 1868, and start the process of transitioning the farm to organic. This simply meant to stop killing the life in the soil and start focusing on proper environmental stewardship of the land by nourishing and restoring the life in the soil leading to producing safe, life-giving food. (meat, milk, bread, eggs, corn, soybeans, spelt, produce etc.). We are continuing to discover the fullness of our vocation in helping people discover Gods plan for healthy food and healthy families. We desire to continue this family mission in and thru our children.
